What is developmental neuropsychology?
Developmental neuropsychology is a professional specialty focused on learning and behavior in relationship to a child’s brain. A developmental neuropsychologist is a licensed psychologist with expertise and specific training in how learning and behavior are associated with the neurodevelopment of brain structures and systems. Formal testing of abilities such as memory, executive functions, and language skills are used to assess brain functioning. The developmental neuropsychologist conducts the evaluation, interprets the results, and makes specific recommendations.
Dr. Feroleto provides comprehensive psychoeducational and neuropsychological assessment for school aged children who are at-risk of, or have, developmental disorders and/or medical conditions. Assessment provides a comprehensive picture of a child’s functioning that can be used to guide parents, teachers, therapists, and other medical professionals in providing targeted intervention and accommodations. Dr. Feroleto also sees a small number of families for consultation on issues related to behavior management and parenting and provides short-term psychotherapy for a limited number of adolescents struggling with symptoms of ADHD, learning disorder, anxiety and/or mood disorder.
